1. Monthly meeting of the CST's board members (once a month on average)

2. Meeting of the heads of departments of chemistry
    The meeting is jointly organized with the division of chemistry of the Science Society of Thailand (under the patronage of His Majesty the King) and the Departments of Chemistry, Faculties of Science of various universities as followed

3. Organization of international conferences

   3.1 PACCON (Pure and Applied Chemistry Conference) 2008, co-organized with the Department of Chemistry, Kasetsart University during Jan 30 - Feb 2, 2008 

   3.2 PACCON (Pure and Applied Chemistry Conference) 2009, co-organized with Naresuan University, Ratchapat Institute of Pibulsongkram, and Lanna University of Technology during Jan 14-16, 2009

   3.3 Being granted the rights to host the 14th Asian Chemical Congress in 2011

   3.4 Being granted the rights to host MACRO 2014 on the condition that the CST is a member of IUPAC,the process of which is in progress

4. Nomination of awardees and participants in activities in the international level

   4.1 FACS Awards and FACS Citations (Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS)) for 2007

   4.2 Nomination of a scientist with expertise in analytical chemistry to participate in the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (PITTCONN 2008)

   4.3 Encouraging the nomination of a scientist to receive the IUPAC Prizes for Young Chemists in the international level

   4.4 The awards of the CST that coincide with awards of FACS 5 awards and coincide with awards of IUPAC 1 award. These were first awarded in 2008 and will be awarded at the PACCON international conference every year. The award recipients may also be nominated for FACS and IUPAC awards. The awards of the CST can be divided into 6 categories as followed

   (1) Distinguished Chemist Award (FACS Foundation Lectureship Award). In 2008, analytical chemistry was considered for the award.
   (2) Distinguished Young Chemist Award (FACS Distinguished Young Chemist Award). In 2008, organic chemistry was considered for the award.
   (3) Distinguished Dissertation Award (IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists)
   (4) Chemist with Distinguished Contribution to Economy and Industry Award (FACS Award for Distinguished Contribution to Economic Advancement)
   (5) Chemist with Distinguished Contribution to Chemical Education Award (FACS Award for Distinguished Contribution to Advancement in Chemical Education)
   (6) Lifetime Contribution to Chemistry Award (Citations for Contributions to Chemistry and the Chemical Profession Award)

   4.5 The Wiley - CST Award for Outstanding Publication 2008, which received monetary support from John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in the amount of US$ 2,000

5. Organization of seminars, workshops, and other activities such as

   5.1 A seminar on "Optimization of Laboratory: Safety and Energy Efficiency", co-organized with the Professor Doctor Thab Neelanithi Foundation and Neolab International Co. Ltd. on July 10, 2007

   5.2 "Let's Care Safety Camp 2007", co-organized with the Division of Chemistry, the Science Society of Thailand (under the patronage of His Majesty the King) and Merck Co. Ltd. at the Museum of Natural Sciences and Environment, the National Science Museum (Thailand) during Oct 17-19, 2007

   5.3 A workshop on "Chemical Safety and Small Scale Chemistry Approach for Organic Laboratory" on Feb 1, 2008 as a part of PACCON 2008

   5.4 A seminar on "Chemist's Answers to Problems in Business", co-organized with the Chemical Industry Group of the Industry Council of Thailand, and the Faculty of Science Alumni Association of Chulalongkorn University on Nov 27, 2008

   6.1 An acting international member of FACS

   6.2 The CST committee members' participation in the a meeting with the committee of the 53rd FACS EXCO Meeting on Jan 29, 2008

   6.3 The CST president's participation in the 54th FACS EXCO Meeting during Aug 27-29, 2008 in Bali, Indonesia

   6.4 The CST's becoming an acting member of IUPAC, expected to begin in 2009

   6.5 The CST, together with Chulalongkorn University and Mahidol University, have offered to jointly host the International Chemistry Olympiad competition in 2015

International Chemistry Olympiads, IChO

The objectives of International Chemistry Olympiads are to develop and promote science and mathematics awareness especially for talented young generations who will be the potential driving force of the country. International Science and Mathematics Olympiads were launched in 1959 in Eastern Europe. Several countries have joined the competition ever since. International Chemistry Olympiads was started in 1969. In 2007, the 39th International Chemistry Olympiads was held in Moscow, Russia with 267 students from 68 countries (source: http://www.icho39.chem.msu.ru). Thailand has joined the International Chemistry Olympiads since 1990 winning 55 medals in total (9 Gold Medals, 22 Silver Medals, and 24 Bronze Medals) including 3 Honorable Mentions. Thailand has won medals every year since the first appearance in IChO. In 1999, the 31st International Chemistry Olympiads was held in Thailand. 4 students, 4 mentors, and 1 manager participated in that competition. Chemical Society of Thailand has been the core in lecturing and selecting students nationwide. The president of Chemical Society of Thailand presides as the chairman of Chemistry Olympiad Committees having the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) acting as a secretary to select 4 representatives from Thailand. 50 students are selected after 2 nationwide exams. The number is reduced to 14 students after 2 chemistry camps and finally the last 4 students after the third chemistry camp. More than 7,000 students countrywide participate in the exam every year.

ทำเนียบนักเคมีไทย

สำนักงานคณะกรรมการวิจัยแห่งชาติเป็นหน่วยงานกลางตามมติคณะรัฐมนตรีในการเป็นศูนย์ข้อมูลการวิจัยของประเทศ ได้รวบรวมข้อมูลนักวิจัย และข้อมูลโครงการวิจัย ของประเทศ จัดเก็บในระบบงานตั้งแต่ปี 2531 เป็นต้นมา รวบรวมข้อมูลจากการขอสำรวจข้อมูลจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน หน่วยงานราชการและรัฐวิสาหกิจได้ส่งข้อมูลให้สำนักงานฯตามแบบสำรวจในแต่ละปีงบประมาณ และการตรวจข้อมูลจากรายงานวิจัยที่ได้รับจากหน่วยงานและนักวิจัย และนักวิจัยส่งข้อมูลของนักวิจัยให้แก่สำนักงานฯโดยตรง

การจัดทำทำเนียบการวิจัย 2549 เป็นการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลนักวิจัย ข้อมูลผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ และข้อมูลโครงการวิจัยของประเทศทั้งหมด ได้แก่ ข้อมูลย่อเฉพาะชื่อและรหัสนักวิจัย ข้อมูลนักวิจัย และข้อมูลโครงการวิจัยตามสาขาวิชาการของสภาวิจัยแห่งชาติ 12 สาขา ได้แก่ สาขาวิทยาศาสตร์กายภาพและคณิตศาสตร์ สาขาวิทยาศาสตร์การแพทย์ สาขาวิทยาศาสตร์เคมีและเภสัช สาขาเกษตรศาสตร์และชีววิทยา สาขาวิศวกรรมศาสตร์และอุตสาหกรรมวิจัย สาขาปรัชญา สาขานิติศาสตร์ สาขารัฐศาสตร์และรัฐประศาสนศาสตร์ สาขาเศรษฐศาสตร์ สาขาสังคมวิทยา สาขาเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและนิเทศศาสตร์ และสาขาการศึกษา
